Floor Mounted Spotting Scope Tripods

MEETING OF MARCH 2.

In this session we will work with different from other web 2.0 tools: social networks.
But what is that social networks? sure you have heard talk about Facebook, or Twitter Twenties. Well those are some of the many social networks that exist.
Basically, sites that allow the relationship and connection between personas.Son sites that let you connect to your contacts or make new ones, expanding your network, can share videos, photos, documents, files. You can access the chat, have your own blog, participate in the forum and many other things.

These networks combine communication, community and cooperation among its members. Are based on the theory of 6 degrees, according to which any person is connected to any other on earth through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than six intermediaries.

This video explains perfectly that it is a social network.

And what are the uses of social networks in education?
as many, if we assume that students use social networks and are fully familiar with them.
allow students to remain in contact with each other, their teachers and alumni, creating a favorable working environment. Allowed expresarses for themselves, develop relationships with others and attend to their education. In short, promote formal and informal.

The ability to create as many groups within the network and want to allow sharing of experiences, materials and ideas together. Groups can be open or closed to all by invitation, which allows control of privacy.

Juan José de Haro, which took many of the ideas presented here, explains in his blog some examples of groups:

  • Groups tutoring class where the tutor related warnings the same or establish dialogues on issues deemed appropriate.
  • groups for specific subjects where the teacher put the duties, the blog of its kind (which may be external or internal to the network), the test scores or students to ask questions on the subject.
  • can make groups of a few students, so they are in contact while performing temporary work in a subject.
control of the network is at all times in the hands of administrators and may remove any inappropriate comments or expel undesirable members. When working with minors, the network must be private to protect your privacy.

The network also has great value for teachers, to create groups (or networks themselves) by department, by subject, by level or center, to give any kind of information, sharing resources, working in teams.

In short, returning to the words of Juan José de Haro, we quote some of the benefits it can provide a social network created to work with students

  • Allows centralizing in one place all teaching activities, teachers and students of a school.
  • Increased sense of educational community for students and teachers because of the proximity effect of producing social networks.
  • Improved working environment by allowing students to create their own objects of interest as well as your own work that requires education.
  • Increased fluency and ease of communication between teachers and students.
  • Improved effectiveness of the practical use of ICT network to act as a means of agglutination of people, resources and activities. Especially when ICT is used widely and massive school.
  • facilitates the coordination and work of various learning groups (class, course, group of students in a course, etc.) By creating the appropriate groups.
  • Learning basic social behavior by students: What I can say, what I can do until I can go, etc.
